Two Harford County Public Schools students have earned state-level recognition in the Maryland State Society Daughters of the American Revolution essay contests.

Georgia Reid, an eighth grader at Patterson Mill Middle School, won the American History Essay Contest for her essay "Lunch With a Founder: William Paca," sponsored by the Governor William Paca Chapter. Camilla Carneiro, a ninth grader at Bel Air High School, won the Patriots of the American Revolution High School Essay Contest for her essay "Mercy Otis Warren: A Woman Behind the Revolution," also sponsored by the Governor William Paca Chapter.

Both students were honored at the MSSDAR Annual Awards Breakfast on March 21 at Turf Valley Resort, where each received a certificate, a silver medal, an America 250! pin, and a $200 cash prize. Their essays have been forwarded for possible recognition at the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Continental Congress this June.

Congratulations, Georgia and Camilla!
